ADHD is not a Superpower

Why do I say this?

Imagine yourself feeling courageous and secure and saying yes to an event, or gathering. And feeling so up and positive about it.

Imagine said event or gathering is in a few days. You do not feel up or positive about it. You're dreading it. Your anxiety about it is keeping you awake, or upsetting other issues in your body.

Imagine the day of the said event or gathering you feel overwhelmed, anxious, nauseous, can't focus and can't stop the thoughts about it swirling in your head.

Imagine you do make it to said event or gathering, and you can't control what comes out of your mouth, can't stop talking, and can't stop anxiety sweating, you can't sit still and your so full of anxiety your nauseous. You're hyper aware you're an idiot and of yourself. You're full of fear. You cannot focus at all, you hear everything and everyone. Sometimes rocking back and forth. You cannot wait for the said event or gathering to end. You see how much fun everyone is having. You are fake smiling and fake happy because acting is first nature.
Inside your dying.

That my friends is a normal event with ADHD.
That is Not a Super Power.
What can we do?

1.)Have something to fidget with. I pull out my Rosary and keep it in my hands hidden, or fidget with my Necklace of Catholic Medals and Cross.

2.) I pray. I will say a pray over and over.

3.) Use loops earbuds at said event or gathering. To filter out external noise so i can concentrate better.

4.) excuse myself and go outside for a break, or to the bathroom. Take deep breaths and more prayers.

5.) Only stay as long as necessary. Thank everyone or whatever the situation calls for and slide out quietly and quickly.

6.) Try and stay aware when making said plans, that this may happen and don't commit or give a maybe.

7.) Have something at home to look forward to after said event or gathering. Clean favorite pj's, favorite tea, book, etc.
